Thompson Rivers University is proud to highlight two unique projects that highlight the contributions of Indigenous scholars, students and staff.


The Secwépemc language app is a media-rich bilingual dictionary and phrase collection comprised of words and phrases archived at the online Indigenous language database FirstVoices.com. Word and phrase definitions are illustrated with audio recordings, and images. Users can generate their own thematically organized flashcards and bookmark words or sentences to create their own lists.


Knowledge Makers is a collaborative teaching initiative in which Indigenous students learn how to research, and how to publish research. Based at TRU since 2015, Knowledge Makers has brought together up to 15 Indigenous undergraduate students each year from across the university to learn how to ‘make knowledge’, through a multi-modal approach. It is a non-credit program over a four-month period.
