When many of us started out as Instructional Designers the job description included things like: Apply adult learning principles, effective communication, be on top of the latest trends in ed tech and project management. Flash forward to today and you’ll see a different picture of what it takes (or will take) to be an ID. Beyond the job description, we are relationship builders, advocates, innovators, leaders, technicians, researchers, and we could go on. Now, and in the future, we are all of those things - while also continually extending our capacity to take on numerous roles in order to create the best possible learning experience for students.
In this session, we will explore what all of the current expectations are, how we manage them and what that means for the future. It will be an interactive session where will build a picture of what the ‘ID of the future’ looks like. Collectively we’ll build a toolkit of some practical resources and share tips on how to be this ‘ID superhero’ of the future.
